Timber trusses are the structural framework that support the roof and bridge the space above a room or a porch. Timber trusses are a rigid triangle of heavy timbers. By using timber frame trusses you can span a large area and create a dramatic effect at the same time.

Green Mountain Timber Frames is able to provide the perfect timber truss solution for your timber frame home or commercial timber frame project. We frequently use reclaimed timber, kiln dried or green, rough sawn, hand hewn, surfaced smooth 4 sides, and glu-laminated beams in our timber frame projects depending on client preference.

Timber Trusses, whether structural or decorative (which we call trimberframing), are most commonly named one of five ways: From the specific location in the project the trusses are used or installed (truss or bridge truss, etc), from the form of the truss (lenticular truss, etc.), from the truss’ relatable appearance to another object (scissors truss, etc.), from a notable or important part in the truss’ construction (king post truss, hammer beam truss, etc.), and lastly trusses can named for the person by whom they were in invented (Howe truss, etc.)

For certain projects we are able to conceal structural steel elements within our timber frames through the expert craftsmanship of our carpenters in the wood shop. 

These custom timber frame truss solutions allow the stunning visual effect of timber framed trusses to remain at the forefront of the design while providing a greater increase in support with the concealed steel element.

We are also able to retrofit timber trusses into your existing home with a process we call "trimberframing!" This process allows you to enjoy the decorative beauty of traditional timber framing in your existing stick built structure.
